Niomi Vakil
Niomi Vakil was born in Mumbai, and the city of dreams was just the place to nurture a deep creativity within her. Even though she came from three generations of chemical engineers, she found her true calling as Textile and Surface Designer, Artist, Illustrator, Interior Stylist, Set designer and Curator of Exhibitions.
With a degree in Bachelor of Design from Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology, Bangalore, she was soon pursuing a career in designing textiles for interior spaces. Ever inspired by far away cultures, Niomi is admittedly geeky about traditional, layered textiles, and will easily jump at the thought of anything related to Japanese culture. To her, this is something corelated to her ties with Kobe from her maternal side.
Her work has been featured in several magazines as well as international exhibitions, and she’s always keen to get stuck into the design process. Learning and excelling along the way is just a happy side-effect.
